Beijing’s long-awaited National Grand Theatre has arrived!
Jiang Zemin, the former Communist Party general secretary and state leader, has been a strong backer of this new entertainment venue in the heart of China’s capital.
Located immediately behind The Great Hall of the People, the National Grand Theatre appears to float on a pool of water. The building can be seen from many vantage points within the immediate city precinct. The design certainly stands in contrast to its surroundings and will be a point of interest and comment for decades to come.
The theatre is officially due to open in December but will be used for events leading up to that time.
